What is ITBP ?
On October 24, 1962, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Force was established. Currently, the ITBP is responsible for guarding the 3,488 km long India-China border, which runs from Ladakh’s Karakoram Pass to Arunachal Pradesh’s Jachep La. Apart from that, the Force plays a significant role in numerous internal security activities and operations in the state of Chhattisgarh against Left Wing Extremism.
The majority of the ITBP’s Border Out Posts (BOPs) are located at elevations ranging from 9,000 to 18,800 feet, when extreme winter temperatures can reach minus 45 degrees Celsius.
ITBP is a specialised Armed Police Force of the Nation that trains its soldiers in a variety of sports, such as climbing and skiing, in addition to extensive tactical training, in order to give the Force a distinct image.
ITBP also conducts relief and rescue operations as ‘First Responders’ for natural calamities in the Himalayan region.
The Force has a glorious history of the past 6 decades in which the jawans of the ITBP have made many sacrifices in the line of duty and in the service of the Nation.

Educational Qualification:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with Automobile as one of the subject or Bachelor’s Degree in Automobile Engineering from a recognized University or Institution.

Selection Process:
- The Selection Process will consist of Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Physical Standard Test (PST), Written Test, Skill Test, Documentation, Detailed Medical Examination (DME)/ Review Medical Examination (RME).
- Medical Examination to assess the fitness of candidates will be conducted in terms
of Uniform Guidelines for Recruitment Medical Examination for GOs and NGOs in
CAPFs and AR issued vide MHA, U.O. No. A.VI-1/2014-Rectt(SSB) dated 20.05.2015
and as amended from time to time by the Government.
